Sayings of Prophet Muhammad

Clothing

Do not be prodigal or arrogant
Amr bin Shuaib on his father's authority said that his grandfather reported Prophet Muhammad( may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, "Eat, drink, give in charity and wear clothes as long as neither prodigality nor pride is mixed up with it". (Ahmad, Nasai and Ibn Majah)

Do not trail the garment
Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Prophet Muhammad, (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, "If anyone trails his garment arrogantly, Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection". (Bukhari and Muslim)

Men should not dress like women
Hadrat Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "Allah has denounced such males who take on the appearance of females and such females who put on the appearance of males". (Bukhari)

White clothing recommended
It is reported from Hadrat Fadl ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "Adopt white clothes; it is the best attire". (Tirmidhi)

The 'Imama
Hadrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) entered Makka on the day of its conquest, there was a black 'imama (turban) on his auspicious head. (Tirmidhi)

The Veil
Narrated Sayyidatina 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "May Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) bestow His Mercy on the early emigrant women. When Allah (The Glorified and The Exalted) revealed the verse; 'They should draw their veils over their necks and bosoms', (33:59) they tore their aprons and covered their faces with it". (Bukhari)

Gold and silk permitted only to females
Hadrat Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, "Gold and silk are permitted to the females among my people, but prohibited to the males". (Tirmidhi and Nasai)
