Email of the Month - Iqra Islamic Publications: Stars Worship Allah and Hymn His Praise

Stars Worship Allah and Hymn His Praise

Please send me information on stars.

Thank you.

Hely.

Hello Hely,

Stars are a creation of Allah, the Glorified and the Exalted. They have been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and the Hadith (Sayings of Prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Everything that is in the heavens and the earth including the stars worships Allah and hymns His praise. Stars have been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an in verses (16:16), (53:1) and (86:3) in the singular and in verses (6:97), (7:54), (16:12), (22:18), (37:88), (52:49), (56:75), (77:8) and (81:2) in the plural.

Stars are one of the signs of Allah that indicate that there is only One Creator of everything and He is Allah.

When the stars come out, we know it is time for Isha (night) prayers and when they set, we know it is time for Fajr (dawn) prayers.

Muslims are not supposed to believe in astrologers. When Muslims wake up in the morning, they pray to Allah. They do not look up the newspaper to see what their star says will happen to them that day. Muslims do not believe in that. That is fatalism. Muslims go about their daily lives with confidence and trust in Allah. When we look at the column “What the stars say”, it appears that the stars are only interested in money, love-making, friends, business and jobs. So sensible people all over the world have already realised that this is all a business.

The stars swim in the orbit with the Command of Allah, the Glorified and the Exalted.

Great Muslims of all times are compared to stars because they shine like them. The Companions of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam have been compared to the stars while Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam himself is the sun of Prophethood.

According to one Muslim poet, the stars borrow their light from Prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

Stars can be used to ascertain directions, especially when one is at sea, and to find one’s way. Stars light up the sky and the earth.

Historically, Muslim scientists have made great advancements in astronomy, a study of stars and other celestial bodies, and will continue to do so, God willing, Amin.

Before the Day the Judgement, stars and everything else will perish. Only Allah, Majestic is His Majesty, abides in all eternity.

With best wishes,
Siddiq
