Sayings of Prophet Muhammad
may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him

Salutations on Prophet Muhammad
(may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him)

Salutations on the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and on his decendants
Hadrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila (may Allah be pleased with him) said that once he paid a visit to Hadrat Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), who asked him if he should present to him a gift which he had heard from the Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him). On this, Hadrat Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) requested him to do so. Hadrat Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Once we asked the Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him), O Apostle of Allah! we have already been taught by Allah (The Glorified and the Exalted) how to offer Salaam (salutation) upon you, but we do not know the correct way to ask blessings upon you and your family.' The Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) replied, 'Ask in the following way:

"O Allah! shower Thy blessings upon our leader Muhammad and on his descendants as Thou showered Thy blessings upon our leader Ibrahim and his descendants; verily Thou art the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. O Allah! Bestow favours on our leader Muhammad and on his descendants as Thou Bestowed favours on our leader Ibrahim and on his descendants; verily Thou art the Praiseworthy, the Glorious." (al-Bukhari)

Mountains and trees saluted the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him)
Sayyidina Ali bin Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Once when I was with the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) in Makkah and we went out into one of its districts in the neighbourhood, not a mountain or tree which confronted him failed to say, "Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah." (Tirmidhi and Darimi).

The Reward of Invoking Blessings in him
Hadrat Abdullah Ibn-e-Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "The person who asks blessings upon me abundantly, will be nearest to me on the Day of Judgment." (Tirmidhi)

Hadrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "If somebody hears my name, he should ask blessings upon me. When a person asks one blessing upon me, Allah (The Glorified and the Exalted) sends ten blessings upon him, forgives his ten sins, and raises him ten degrees (in Paradise)." (Ahmad, an-Nasai)
